The ages of mulberry cuttings for propagation such as softwood, semi-hardwood and hardwood was conducted from June 1979 in the nursery of the Research Project. This study was undertaken to determine which of the ages of mulberry cuttings would give better performance in terms of leaf sprouting and longevity in plastic bags, and which of them too would be more viable. The test was conducted using a factorial experiment in completely randomized design (CRD). There were three treatments and four replications used. Planting was done in June 1979. Two varieties were used, the Batac and Alfonso, planted with 3 nodes. The study ended on September 20, exactly 3 months after planting. In this study, it was shown that hardwood cut- tings were more viable, and in terms of leaf sprouting, it gave better performance. With this result, it is advisable therefore to use hardwood cuttings for promising returns.
