Online resources: Summary: ODEJAR, AURORA MANZANILLA. "Factors Associated with the Utilization of Organic Fertilizer in Barangay Binahaan, Pagbilao, Ouezon." Practicum Report, Special Study Program, Len Severino Agricultural College, April, 1992. The study was conducted to determine the factors associated with the utilization of organic fertilizer of rice farmers as well as the kind of organic fertilizer mostly utilized by the farmers. A total of 92 rice farmers from Barangay Binahaan,Pagbilao, Quezon provided the data for this study. Data were gathered by means of an interview schedule. Almost half of the rice farmers belonged to 41-60 age bracket, majority have reached elementary level, 63% had annual income ranging from Y5,000 to Y9,999 and 53% had rice farming experience ranging from 10-20 years. Many of the farmers were non-users of organic fertilizer due to the following reasons: length of time needed in the preparation/ production of compost, lack of technology on the preparation/ utilization of organic fertilizer and unavailability when needed. The 12 farmer users had the following observations: healthier growth of palay, increased yield, much cheaper than inorganic fertilizer, reduce pests and diseases on plants and produced tastier and more nutritious rice. Majority of the farmers preferred compost fertilizer over the commercial organic ones. Mass media was their common source of information regarding the technology on organic fertilizer usage.
