Under the super-vision of Mr. Celso Nuestro, Adviser. The study was conducted at Palangue II, Naic, Cavite from November 1988 to February 1989. It aimed to find out the effect of delayed transplanting on the yield Performance of IR-66 and to determine which of the ages of seedling would give the highest yield. The entire area was plowed and harrowed to loosen the soil for better aeration, The field was divided into four blocks to represent replications and each block was subdivided into four equal plots to represent the treatments. A Randomized Complete Block Design was used in this study. The different treatments used were: T, - transplanted 19 days after sowing; T2 transplanted 26 days after sowing; T3 - transplanted 33 days after . sowing; and T4 - transplanted 40 days after sowing. Based on the result of this study, in T1 produced the' tallest plants, the highest; number of tillers as well as the highest number of panicle per hill. Likewise,T2 obtained the lowest number of unfilled grain per panicle. However, the plants in T4 produced the shortest plants but could be harvested earlier as compared to other treatments. The computed yield per hectare shows that early transplanting (19 days sowing) gave a considerable increase in yield. This implies that transplanting at 19 days after sowing enhance the early development of the plants thus-early absorption and usage of available nutrients from the soil.
