The main purpose of the study was to determine the effects of inland flooding on the livelihood activities of households in selected low-lying areas of Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to determine the: (1) socio-economic characteristics of the households; (2) characteristics of livelihood activities of the households; (3) causes of inland flooding; (4) effects of inland flooding on the livelihood activities of the households in terms of capital, equipment, and operations; and (5) actions taken by the local government units and the households to prevent and/or control the inland flooding in selected low-lying areas of Cavite. The study was conducted to determine the effects of inland flooding on the livelihood activities of the hosueholds in selected low-lying areas of Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to determine 1) the socio-economic characteristics of livelihood activities of households; 2) the characteristics of livelihood activities of the households; 3) the causes of inland flooding; 4) the effects of inland flooding on the livelihood activities of households in terms of capitl, equipment and livelihood operations; and 5) the actions taken by the local govenrment units and the households to prevent or control the inland flooding in selected low-lying areas in Cavite. Primary data were used in the study which were sourced from 150 households and 30 barangay officials representing the local government units in three municipalities and 3 cities of Cavite namely Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario for the former and Cavite city, Bacoor and General Triasfor the latter. Results of the study showed that majority of households were middle-aged, male, married, high school graduates and self-employed. Results also showed that the household participants had nuclear type of family with an average of four household size. Their main source of income is from engagement in livelihood activities with an average monthly income of Php 16,159. Findings on the characteristics of livelihood activities showed that majority of them had variety stores which they owned and had been existing for an average of 35 years. Majority reported that they operated their livelihood activities daily with an average initial capital of Php 29,533 and an average monthly income of Php 10,440. Both the household participants and the barangay officials reported that low level of ground canal was the major cause of inland flooding since most of the floodwater were observed to be coming from the roads. They also experienced ankle-deep and waist-deep flooding during the months of August to October of every year when was the rainy season in the country.
