Abstract: ESCOBAR, ULYSSES NEBUCHADNEZZAR M. AND PEREY, REYMAR H. Development of a Solar-Powered Home Automation System. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Industrial Technology major in Electronics Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Mr. Emerson C. Lascano. The general objective of the study was to develop a solar powered home automation system. The home automation system was developed and evaluated to determine its effectiveness in controlling the basic home furniture and appliances as well as controlling the lights with added security measures for the house. The developed model house equipped with the home automation system is composed of the major components: Genuino micro-controllers, servo motors, keypad membrane, battery, and solar panel as power source. The performance of the home automation model unit was evaluated using the voice recognition system, keypad system and the power switches. The voice recognition system was tested by using the voice commands that control a specific servo motor or motors, and light emitting diodes which was further tested by its response and effectiveness. The security system was tested by using the keypad membrane with a specific password indicated by the user. The password system was tested by changing the password using the Arduino program language. Results of the performance testing showed that the developed model house was automated.
