Abstract: GASCON, NHERIE ADELINE B. "Factors Affecting Employment Status of BS Food Technology Graduates from A.Y. 2010-2014". Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Food Technology. Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Ms.Aitee Janelle E. Reterta, MSc. Food technology is the application of science and related fields of study in post-harvest handling preparation, processing, packaging, storage and distribution of food to ensure food security and the well-being of individuals, families and communities. It includes the social, cultural, economic and environmental aspects of the food system. (CHED 2006). Graduates of Bachelor of Food Science in Food Technology should conform to the competency requirements of the curriculum to be able to deliver the services of food technologist and to be able to receive salaries commensurate to their services. The study determined the factors affecting employment status of BS Food Technology graduates of Cavite State University from A.Y. 2010-2014.Specifically, it aimed to determine the profile of Food Technology graduates in terms of personal profile and characteristics. Identified the personal skills of Food Technology graduates that contributed to the employability of respondents; interpersonal skills; problem-solving skills; technical skills. Determine the school-related factors that contributed to the employability of the respondents; faculty competence; adequacy of curriculum; seminars and workshops; on the job training; instructural facilities and equipment. Determine the employment status of the respondents in terms of work designation; length of service; status of appointment; relation to the field of specialization; professional advancement; problems/difficulties encountered; monthly salary. Determine the significant relationship between personal factors and employment status of the respondents. Determine the significant relationship between school-related factors and employment status of the respondents. Descriptive-Correlational design was used in the study. Fifty-four graduates of Food Technology from A.Y. 2010-2014 from the College of Agriculture, Food, Environment and Natural Resources (CAFENR) were the respondents. Non-probability sampling technique was used which is quota sampling technique which the counted respondents were the graduates who answered the questionnaire from December 13, 2016 until March 26, 2017. For the profile and characteristics of the graduates, it composed of 83% females and 17% males with age ranges from 22 to 31 years old. Eighty-three percent of them are single and 17% are married. For employment status, 61% of the graduates are regular, 20% are contractual, 2% is self-employed and 17% are unemployed since most of them have families already and decided to stay at home to accompany their children. Fifty percent of the graduates are in more than 2 years in service, 29% are in less than 2 years and 21 A are in less than a year. When it comes to relation to field of specialization, 58% of the graduates have a job that is very much related to their course undertaken, 14% are related, 5% for somewhat related, 6°%o are somewhat not related and 8% are not related. When it comes to promotion 51 % of the respondents are promoted and 49% are not. Seventy-three percent attends trainings and seminars that are sponsored by the company and 27 % do not attend. For monthly salary, 54% of the graduates have a salary between P10,001 to P 20,000 and the average monthly salary of the respondents is P15,000. According to the graduates majority of the given problems were considered as rarely problematic which means that they can still handle or tolerate the problems given. For personal factors, all of the factors have an impact on the employability of the graduates because of their high verbal interpretation. In problem solving skills, it shows the graduates do things given to them in order of priority. Besides, when it comes to technical skills graduates were able to open, create, save and modify documents in Word, create spread sheet in Excel and can make presentation using PowerPoint. Moreover, all of the school related factors contributed to the employability of the graduates but faculty competence, adequacy of curriculum, and on the job training were the factors that contributed the most.
