Abstract: ARTISTA, NILO CAGUITLA, Don Severino Agricultural Indang, Cavite, April 1992. "DESIGN, COSTRUCTION EVALUATION OF A MANUALLY OPERATED CALAMANSI SORTER." Adviser: Eng'r Conrado M. Baltazar. The design, construction, and evaluation of a manually operated calamansi size sorter was evaluated in Department of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite. The concern of this study was to come up with a sorter which require a shorter time of operation. The efficiency of the machine depend upon the actual sizes provided in the machine. The machine consisted of two principals namely, the hopper assembly and the size sorter assembly. Result showed that using traditional method of calamansi is more time consuming than the designed Eight trials were made and it revealed that the designed less time of 1.35 minutes, compared to 4.73 minutes in traditional method. High significant difference at 5% level and 1% level were demonstrated in the analysis of variance. The total amount needed to construct the machine was machine. Analysis of the machine showed relevance to the small-scale farmers. The machine amounted to P1, 127.50. payback period was 22.76 days and can gain an annual income of P24, 014.865 by sorting at 8 hours per day.
