A Comparative Analysis of the Experimental and_Non-Experimental Agricultural High Schools in the Philippines, 1976 ~ 1973. Major Professor: Dr. Higino Ables (vice Dr. Arsenio 0. Gagni) The study aimed to find out the difference between the experimental and non~experimental agricultural high schools with respect to the characteristics and school achievements of graduates and some external productivity factors. The respondents of the study consisted of 426 randomly selected graduates of 16 experimental and non-experimental agricultural high schools in eight regions of the country during the school years 1976-77 and 1977-78. The data were gathered through personal interview and mailed questionnaires. Of the seven variables describing the characteristics of graduates in both types of schools only the scholastic performance and the distance of residence to school differed significantly. In terms of their school achievements, the following six variables out of ten differed significantly: gross income of the project, total expenses, amount saved in bank, amount of credit availed 5}, performance in agriculture subjects and the NCEE scores. In terms of occupational placement, it was found out that there were more graduates from the non-EAHS who went for further these food schooling than the EAHS; however, more graduates in the EAHS were employed in agriculture than in the non-EAHS. In the EAHS, no variable showed a significant relationship to occupational placement while in the non-EAHS, age, occupation of the parents and return on investment were found to be significantly related.
