Online resources: Abstract: Lincallo, Rosalie Luisaga, "A study on the Utilization of Organic Fertilizer in Upland Cavite", B.S.Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, major in Agricultural Economics, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, April 1994. The general objective of the study is to provide basic information on the utilization of organic fertilizer in Upland Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to: a} determine the extent of organic fertilizer use in Upland Cavite; 6b) identify what crops are being applied with organic fertilizer; c) determine the kind and amount of organic fertilizer being used, the frequency and method of utilization and other information related to the use of organic fertilizer; d) know the reasons for utilization and non-utilization of organic fertilizer; and e) identify the problems encountered in the use of organic fertilizer. The study was conducted in six selected towns of Upland Cavite, namely: Alfonso, Amadeo, Indang, Mendez, Silang, and Tagaytay where multiple cropping is commonly practiced. One hundred twenty farmer-respondents were selected through simple random sampling and only if respondents used organic fertilizer on their farm. The study revealed that the average age of the respondents was 36.6 years. Majority of them had finished primary education with an average number of dependents of four. Most of the respondents were tenants. Farmers had an average farm size of 1.6 hectares with an average farming experience of 17.8 years. Some of the farmers had been using organic fertilizer for one to 30 years. The respondents applied organic fertilizer on cabbage, lettuce, celery, pechay, onion, garlic, tomato, asparagus and coffee. It was found out that chicken manure and coffee pulp were used as organic fertilizer and basal method of utilization was used. Aside from wilting of pechay, the farmers reported no major problem regarding the use of fertilizer. To improve the utilization of organic fertilizer in Upland Cavite, the government should extend help through information dissemination, technology transfer and financial support. Likewise, the farmers should increase the land area devoted to production of certain crops which will also be applied with organic fertilizer.
