Major Professor: Dr. Cecilia B. Banaag This study attempted to determine the predictors of teaching performance among secondary school teachers in Amadeo, Cavite during the School Year 1995-1996. Specifically, the study sought to: a) identify the profile of secondary school teachers in Amadeo in terms of age, sex, marital status, length of service and educational attainment; h) identify the work values, school climate, level of job satisfaction of teachers and the performance of teachers as perceived by the students; c) determine the relationship between teaching performance and wort; values, perception to school climate, job satisfaction level and demographic characteristics of teachers; and d) identify the best predictors of teaching performance. The study made use of descriptive correlational method of research. This consisted of description, recording analysis and in interpretation of the status of teachers in terms of their work values, school climate, level of job satisfaction, performance and some selected demographic characteristics. The instrument used in data gathering were: Job Descriptive Index Scale (JDIS). Organizational climate Descriptive Questionnaire (0CDQ), Work Values Inventory (WVI), and the Teacher Behavior Inventory (TBI). The study was conducted in the District of Amadeo, Amadeo, Cavite. The respondents were all secondary school teachers and 313 students_ The statistical measures employed were.: frequency counts, percentage, mean, standard devi4tiAB 4114 multiple regression. Teachers were dominated by young ones. There were more female than male teachers. Majority of teacher respondents were married and were teaching from 6-10 years. Most of them had earned graduate units in Education. The secondary school teachers in Amadeo possessed high work values. Teachers perceived school climate to be favorable. The secondary school teachers were satisfied with their job. The teachers as perceived by the students had an average performance. Job satisfaction, school climate, and work values of teachers were found to be significantly related to their teaching performance. The identified predictors of teaching performance were: school climate, job satisfaction and educational attainment.
