Abstract: Aure, Girlie Maraan, Cavite State University, Cavite, April 1999. "TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC THE DSAC MODEL BIOGAS DIGESTER". Adviser Engr. Canilo A. Polinga. The biogas digester The study on the "Technical and Economic Evaluation of the DSAC-Model Biogas Digester" was conducted at the Biogas Plant of the Cavite State University Piggery Project, Indang, Cavite from January to March 1999. aimed to evaluate the performance of the in terms of gas production rate and gas generation efficiency using hog manure; and to analyze the quality of wastewater in terms of pH, temperature, total suspended solids, chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD), and coliforms. Results of the study revealed that the temperature, total suspended solids, biological oxygen demand (BOD, chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total coliforms of the effluent did not pass the standard set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for wastewater to be disposed to Class C inland water. The volumes of gas produced was 61.995 m3 days. It was observed that the system had a gas efficiency of 84.11 percent. model of the net savings obtained in using the DSAC biogas digester was P28,598.80 when sludge was utilized as feed and fertilizer . -and P1,848.34 when sludge was not utilized. The biogas plant can be repaid within 1.05 years when the sludge is used and if it is not used it can be repaid within 16.23 years of operation.
