The study "Utilization of Aerial Potato(Dioscorea bulbifera) Starch as a Raw Material in the Production of Bioplastics" was conducted to produce starch-based plastic sheets using aerial potato starch as its component. It also aimed to determine the characteristics of the said product along with its level of acceptability and the significant differences in the physical characteristics and strength of bioplastic sheets and compared it to the corn-starch-based bioplastics.The aerial potatoes were gathered from Kaytambog, Indang, Cavite. The materials such as water, vinegar, adhesive glue, and vegetable oil were provided by the researchers. Glycerin was bought in Mercury Drugstore in Indang, Cavite. Aerial potatoes were processed to become starch. Water, vegetable oil, adhesive glue, vinegar, glycerin and aerial potato starch were prepared according to their specific treatment and were placed into the pan, stirred vigorously until the ingredients appeared to be a glue-like mixture. The resulting mixture was placed on a sheet of aluminium foil and spread evenly using a spatula. It was sundried for seven hours. Results showed that amount of aerial potato starch significantly affected the physical characteristic and strength of produced bioplastic. The produced bioplastic was acceptable in terms of the physical properties and strength after being evaluated.
