The swine production project was conducted at San Agustin, Magallaes, Cavite from January 13 2018 to April 22, 2018. The project aimed to apply the acquired knowledge from school specifically in entrepreneurial skills in hog fattening, generate the best solutions to the problems encountered in swine project and earn profit from a small swine fattening project.
The swine production project used weanlings with an average weight of 11kg which were purchased from a piggery farm adjacent to where the project was conducted. The project involved operations from the preparation of the pen, purchase of stocks and feeds, feeding management, harvesting and in the marketing.
After 100 days, the hogs weighed an average of 80.5kg with average daily gain of 695.0g. The hogs consumed an average of 150.0kg.
A total cost production, ₱31,512.70 was laid out that gave total sales of ₱40,380.00, and net income of ₱9,227.30 from 4 hogs on live weight basis. The return on investment (ROI) was at 29.61% after 100 days of production.
