Abstract: CHOU, XENNA JEAN C., RAMOS, SUNSHINE M. and RODEROS, MARK NALDSON T. Demographic Profile, Crime Rate and Level of Fear of Crime in Indang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Criminology. Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Dr. Famela Iza Cabe- Matic. The study was conducted from October 2017 to April 2018 to assess the crime awareness and level of fear of crime in Indang, Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to: assess the socio-demographic profile of the participants; assess recorded crime crate in Indang, Cavite; assess the crime awareness of the participants towards the index crimes and non-index crimes, assess the level of fear of crime of the participants in terms of crime victimization and crime risk, the significant relationship of the socio-demographic profile, level of crime awareness and level fear of crime of the participants and the significant relationship between the crime awareness and level of fear of crime of participants. Quantitative survey research method was used in the study. Systematic sampling technique was used to identify the total participants. The total participants were 180 residents from Municipality of Indang, Cavite. A self-made survey questionnaire served as the main gathering tool of this study. Based on the result of the study, the recorded crime rate in Indang, Cavite in terms of index crimes, physical injury got the highest recorded and has a total of 17 records while in terms of non-index crimes, R.A. 9165 known as Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 got the highest recorded and has a total of 46 records. The assessment of level of crime awareness of participants in terms of index crimes and non — index crimes it shows the total mean score got 3.11 with verbal interpretation of "Aware", the data shows that most of the participants are aware about crimes in terms of index and non — index crimes. Although majority of the participants' house was far in plaza or police station they are aware in crimes if they violated such laws. Likewise, the assessment of level of fear of crime in terms of crime victimization and crime risk it shows the total mean score on level of fear of crime got 1.92 with verbal interpretation of "seldom". It means that some of the participant seldom thinks that someone will commit crime where whenever they are. The null hypothesis, there is no significant relationship between socio-demographic of the participants towards crime awareness was accepted. Meanwhile, the null hypothesis, there is a significant relationship between socio-demographic profile of the participants towards level of fear of crime was rejected. Therefore, the null hypothesis, there is a significant relationship between level of crime awareness towards level of fear of crime was rejected. Based on the findings and conclusion drawn, that crime awareness has a significant role towards the fear of crime of one individual. The researchers conclude that because of awareness in crimes individual tend to feel more fear in crimes also the impact of social media in giving information about crimes and might give a bad impression so that the level of fear of individual was high or stable even if their community was secured. Also, it is recommended that they must fully aware on their acts every time and the municipality officials of Indang, Cavite must organize a strict implementation of law concerning about index and non-index crimes and have a program about awareness in crimes.
