Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Economics major in Business Economics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Mr. Marlon A. Mojica. The study focused on the compendium and comparison of cooperatives in Cavite from year 2014 to 2016. Specifically, the study aimed to determine a) the nature and characteristics of cooperatives in Cavite in terms of type of cooperative, location and years of establishment; b) the major operational activities of cooperatives in Cavite such as scope of operation, extension service, number of members and types of service. Secondary data were obtained from the historical files of cooperatives in Cavite from year 2014 to 2016 in Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region 4 Extension Office in Calamba Laguna and from related literatures such as internet articles, books and theses about cooperatives. The data were gathered from March 2018 to April 2018. The data were presented using frequency count, mean, range percentages and distribution tables. T-test was used in order to identify whether there are differences in the financial structure of multipurpose vs single type cooperatives in Cavite. Majority or 75 percent of the cooperatives in Cavite are multipurpose. Twenty-two municipalities in Cavite were reported to have cooperatives and Dasmarinas has the highest sum totaling to 27. The years of establishment of cooperatives in Cavite ranged from 5 — 34 years with a mean of 15 years. Majority of the cooperatives in Cavite operates in municipal area. Cooperatives in Cavite offers 12 kinds of extension services for the development of their community. Credit cooperatives has recorded the highest average number of members within a year. There are 19 different combination of type of services which is either composed of 2, 3 or 4 business activities. In terms of financial structure, the T-test results showed the following: for multipurpose vs single type cooperatives such as: credit cooperatives; transport cooperatives; consumer cooperatives; and producer cooperatives, the findings indicate that there are no significant differences between the average financial structures except for the average revenue. The average revenue of multipurpose cooperatives is significantly different to the average revenue of single type cooperatives by ten percent.
