Abstract: PICAYO, LIANIE LOU L. Self Identity of Parents and Children in the same Profession in Silang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University. Indang Cavite. March 2018. Thesis Adviser: Ms. Ana Ruth Andalajao. The study was conducted from January to February 2018 at Silting, Cavite to explore the possible existence of shadowing by identifying the similarities in the self-identity of parent and Child having the same profession. Specifically, this study aimed to answer the following questions; 1. How do parents perceive their sell- identity in their profession? 2. How do children perceive their self- identity in their profession? 3. How parents perceive their self-identity having the same profession as their children? And 4. How children perceive their self-identity having the same profession as their parent? The study used Phenomenological Approach. Purposive and snowball sampling was used as a sampling technique. The participants of the study were professional and their offspring with the same profession and workplace. Professional parents should be at the age of 40-60 and child ages 21-35 regardless of sex, gender and religious preference residing in Silang Cavite. Four pairs of parent and their offspring participated in the study The results of the study revealed that the perception of the offspring in their self-identity was greatly influenced by their parent. It was developed and improved because of their profession. Shadowing was revealed as a result of comparison of the parent and their offspring.
