PELLOS, ROSSVIC HERRERA. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, March 2000. “Development and Evaluation of a Banana Trunk Extract Expeller”. Adviser: Engineer Liez] M. Ramos.
The study, “Design and Development of a Banana Trunk Extract Expeller”, was conducted at the College of Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite from January to March 2000. The study was conducted to develop and evaluate the banana trunk extract expeller and to test the effect of extract after it was sprayed on chicken manure.
The Banana Trunk Extract Expeller was subjected to four levels of angular speed, rpm (N) — 11-20rpm, 21-30rpm, 31-40rpm, and 41-50rpm. The extract evaluation was done using ten panelists who smelt the manure sprayed with the banana trunk extract with a different volume of extract. Ranges of 1, 2, and 3 were used to determine if the strength of the odor of the manure changed.
The highest mean value of extract collected was obtained using the lowest angular speed of 11-20rpm, which gave a mean value of 2.575kg. of extract and a mean expelling capacity value of 2.384kg./min.
The result of the extract evaluation revealed that the amount of 3000ml and 4000ml of extract could be used to mask the foul odor emitted by chicken manure.
