Abstract: ABANEL, JINO A. and ROMEROSO, JOHN DEO ARVIN A., Design and Construction of a Portable Generator powered by Treadmill, Stationary Bike and Hand Crank. Undergraduate Design Project Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser Engr. Efren R. Rocillo. The study was conducted from December 2016 to April 2017 at Brgy. Lapidario, Trece Martirez City and at Engineering Science Building, Cavite State University, Indang, /Cavite in order to design and construct a portable generator powered by treadmill, stationary bike and hand crank. Specifically, this study aimed to: 1. design and construct a battery bank for the system; 2. construct the charging circuit of the system; 3. compute the size of the pulley that will be used in the system; 4. compute the right 1 size of generator to charge the battery bank system; 5. assemble the whole system;6. test and evaluate based on the system performance; a. charging time and lastly is to conduct overall cost computation. The project was completed and evaluated at the Engineering Science (ES) building of Cavite State University, Indang Campus. A manual treadmill and a manual stationary bike and the crank power of a person was provided to be the prime movers of the DC generator. The parameters such as voltage, current, rpm and average power output were measured. The results and evaluation showed different parameter readings of the three generator drivers. The result showed how much time it takes for an individual to manually full charge the battery. Results from the field study emphasized that the proposed system is feasible enough for electricity generation and indicate the prospect of further improvement and future research. Based on the results of the study, the proponents highly recommended other researchers to focus their interest on the development of renewable sources of energy which can sooner or later help the economy. The total cost of the study amounted to 37,000 pesos.
