Abstract: BALAJADIA, JUDIEI. P. and ESTACIO, DARYLL S., Proposed Design of a Five-torey Steel Framed Public Hospital in Maitim Fast, Tagaytay City. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Engr. Marcelino A. Dagasdas Jr. Hospitals was a health care institution that has an organized medical and other professional staff, and inpatient facilities and delivers medical, nursing and related xry ices twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week. The design of a five — storey steel framed public hospital in Maitim East, Tagaytay City was conducted at Cavite State University — Main Campus from October 2017 to May 2018. The study aimed to prepare a design of five storey public hospital using steel design. Specifically aimed to apply the authors' knowledge in designing and planning, provide structural plans of the five storey building, develop a structural design and analysis of a five-storey steel framed public hospital and provide a detailed cost estimate of the building excluding electrical and plumbing. The study provided the structural details of the proposed hospital. Architectural plan was provided by the architect from the Department of Public Works and Highways, included floor plans and elevations. It has a floor area of 6157 square meter. Its highest point from the basement is 28.14 meters. Structural plan included detailed design of steel deck, concrete beam, concrete column, steel beam, steel column and footing. The analysis of the individual structural member was obtained with the aid of Structural Aided Analysis and Design (STAAD) software. The structural design of the buildings was done following the guidelines set by the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP 2015) standards ACI l 'ode. Allowable Stress Design (ASD) and Ultimate Stress Design (USD) were used in designing steel and concrete members respectively. Baseplate with 320mm x 600mm x 15mm dimensions were also used. The types of steel beam used were W2I x93, WI 8x71, W21‘111, WI8x50. F3. The study provided also the electrical, and plumbing plans construction specifications, and cost estimates. After the analysis and computations, the design was proven safe. The estimated total project cost of the proposed hospital is Php 38,517,177.84 and the cost per square meter is Php 6256.00. The researchers recommended to use light materials for the partition of the normal rooms like steel furring and gypsum boards. Electrical and plumbing plans with cost estimate must be included in the study for a more detailed research. The authors recommended to use the other type of STAAD in getting the moments of each member specifically the "Moment Resisting Frame" or "Combined Resisting Frame". The authors also recommended to adopt a lighter material for walls and partitions to reduce the loads. The other researchers can also use a multiple or combination of structural framing system to resist the effect of lateral loads. Due to the large moments, the authors recommended to use a pre-stressed and to reduce the weight of the building. Lastly the authors recommended for the other researchers to use more innovative architecture design to ease planning, construction and structural design of the entire building.
