Abstract: DIAZ, MYRACRIS MATREO. " Agriculture and Industry Profile of Upland Towns of Cavite ", B. S. Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Development Economics, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 1999: Dr. Maria A. Ersando. The study was conducted in eight Upland towns of Cavite namely Alfonso, Amadeo, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Indang, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez, and Silang. Generally it aimed to (1) describe the agriculture and industry profile of Upland Cavite ; (2) compare the economic profile of upland towns in Cavite in terms of agriculture and industry; and (3) identify the other development needs of Upland Cavite. Data were obtained from secondary sources especially those with information about the province. These were analyze using descriptive method and were presented and interpreted with the use of tables, figures and appropriate statistical tools such as averages and percentages. The total land area planted by agricultural crops is 35, 702. 76 hectares. The widest land area that was planted by agricultural crop of 22.45% is Silang, Cavite. Mendez Cavite has the smallest land area for agriculture. Regarding the volume of production, Upland Cavite had a total volume of production of 140 512.86 metric tons. Indang Cavite had the largest volume of production of 36, 283.27 metric tons. Mendez, Cavite has the smallest volume of production of only 2 518. 50 metric tons. As of 1998, Upland Cavite had a total of 2,699 registered business establishments. Silang, Cavite has the highest number of establishments of 622 while Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo has the lowest number of only 98 establishments. Most of the business establishment were belonged to wholesale/retail business of 76.07 percent; 18.45 are service oriented; .19% are in manufacturing; 1.77 are in banking and finance and the remaining 3.52 % are in recreational. All the respondents reported that provision of financial assistance and credit facilities to the agricultural and industrial infrastructure support is their major need.
