Abstract: GUEVARRA, DAISY F., Applied Research IV (Agricultural Science Curriculum), Don Severino Agri- cultural College, Indang, Cavite, April 1990. FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH THE EMPLOY ABILITY OF BSA GRADUATES OF THE DON SEVERINO AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE FROM SCHOOLYEAR 1985-1987. Adviser: Miss Criste ta M. Montano. This research study attempted to determine the factors associated with the employability of BS Agriculture graduates of DSAC for the last three years. This study utilized the descriptive research method. This study had 37% or 154 respondents as a random sample of the 416 total population. It was found out in this study that the DSAC graduates for the last three years had high employ- ability status although the number of those with course- related jobs was almost the same with those with non-course-related jobs. The Agricultural Education major had high employability status since they had the biggest percentage of those with course-related jobs followed by Agricultural Extension and the third was Agronomy. The male and female graduates have the same employability status. Scholastic rating is a significant factor in getting employed. This study shows that those with high scholastic ratings had the highest percentage in terms of having course-related jobs. In summary, the factors found to be associated with employability are course major and scholastic rating. Sex and manner of job-entry were found out not to be associated with employability. In the light of the above findings, the following are strongly recommended: (1) The policy makers of DSAC should strengthen the new course offering which are Bachelor in Elementary Education and Bachelor in Secondary Education with majors in Farm Technology and Facilities. They could also use the findings of this study in their campaign drive to attract possible clienteles. The creation of a job placement department or unit which will put emphasis on the placement of graduates of Agricultural Economics, Agronomy and Animal Husbandry is also recommended. (2) The high school in Indang and nearby towns should be informed. that among the courses offered in DSAC, the Agricultural Education and Agricultural Extension were the most employable course. Agricultural Education is now B.E.E. and B.S.E. They should also be informed that it pays to strive for higher scholastic ratings since employability is associated with it. (3) Further study in the relationship of pre-graduation job experience and personality and other variables. They may be associated with employability and is also recommended.
