Abstract: CUACHIN ROSSELLE ANNE P. Approaches to Learning to the Level of Motivation and Academic Performance of Selected First Year Education Students of Cavite State University SY 2005-2006, Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2006. Adviser: Evalyne A. Rodriguez. This study determined the relationship of approaches to learning to the level of motivation and academic performance of selected first year education students of Cavite State University SY 2005-2006, specifically it intended to answer the problem: "What is the significant relationship of approaches to learning, level of motivation and academic performance of selected Education students?". The method used in this study is Descriptive Method which involves collection of data in order to test hypothesis or to answer questions concerning the current status of the subject of the study. The respondents were 67 selected Education students from first year Bachelor of Education. Based on the study conducted, majority of the students adopted strategic approach to learning. Moreover, the overall academic performance of the students was a stunning 1.99. In addition, levels of motivation have a significant effect on approaches to learning. Furthermore, there is no significant relationship between the students' approach to learning and academic performance. There is also no significant relationship between the level of motivation and academic performance of the students. The researcher was hoping that this study could be able to add knowledge in the field of Education and Psychology, whereas this study would be able to guide future researchers.
