"Growth Performance of Broilers as Affected by Supplementation of Termite-Mound (Bahay-Anay)". Adviser: Prof. Alejandro ©. Mojica This study was conducted at Trece Martires City from July 14, 1989 to August 31, 1989, to determine the effects of termite-mound supplement on the growth performance of broilers and to find out what level of supplementation was suitable. ) Four treatment groups were used having level of supplementation as follows: T, - control (pure commercial feeds): qt, - 5% termite-mound supplement + 95% commercial feeds; T, - 10% termite-mound supplement + 90% commercial feeds; 1, - termite-mound supplement + 85% commercial feeds. The results revealed that the best level of supplementation was 15% termite-mound supplement + 85% commercial feeds. This treatment improved the growth of chicks in terms of weight and gain in weight, just like the treament groups fed with 10% termite mound. However, there were no significant differences among treatment groups in terms of feed consumption and feed conversion efficiency. It was also found out that at increasing level of supplementation, there was a slight decrease in feed consumption, thus, decreasing the amount of feeds needed in producing a kilogram of meat. This supplement has no effect on mortality or toxicity. The poorest result, however, was obtained in the control which were fed with pure commercial feeds.
