Cavite State University Indang, Cavite. May 2018. Adviser Ana Ruth M. Andalajao, RPm. This study aimed to explore old gay men's life stories. It specifically aimed to: determine how they came to recognize their sexual orientation; identify the process of acceptance that occurred to the following: their self, their parents/family, their friends, and their immediate community; and describe what it was like to live a long life and be open about their sexual orientation. The researchers used phenomenological research, specifically narrative analysis to present the life stories of old gay men in Cavite. Purposive sampling technique was used in the study. The participants were eight self-identified old gay men with age ranging from 60 and above, came out openly in their families and/or community before or during early adulthood ranging from 29-39 years old but not later, and do not have biological child/children. The result revealed that the old gay men had come to recognize their sexual orientation through observed behaviors, circle of friends, preferred toys, style of clothes and attraction to same sex. Most of them fully accepted their sexual orientation and became more expressive. The family fully accepted them because of their capability to support the needs, need to accept the truth and show support to their child their friends accepted them fully because of having the same sexual orientation and because of the help given to them. The community discriminated them, but later on accepted the because they something helpful in the community. Through the struggles and challenges they had been, most of them lived a happy, contented and satisfied life in their hosen path of having different sexual orientation. Through observed girl-liked behavior, he participants came to recognize their sexual orientation. The acceptance of all the people around them and of themselves determined the outcome of their lives that led happiness, contentment and satisfaction in life.
