This study was conducted to determine the financial stress and job performance of working young adults in selected areas of Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the socio-demographic characteristics, the level of financial stress, the level of job performance of the working young adults in selected areas of Cavite; the significant difference in the financial stress level and in job performance level in terms of socio-demographic characteristics; as well as the significant relationship between financial stress and job performance of working young adults. The participants of the study were 200 working young adults (aged 18-24 years old) of selected manufacturing companies in Dasmarinas, General Trias and Carmona, Cavite. A questionnaire was used to gather data from the participants. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and range were used to interpret the socio-demographic profile of the participants. On the other hand, the significant difference in the financial stress level and in job performance level in terms of socio-demographic characteristics was analyzed using the Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis statistics. The relationship of financial stress and the job performance of working young adults was analyzed using the Spearman's Rank statistics. The average age of the employee’s was20.7 years and majority were female. In terms of their marital status, majority were single, had no children and do not have college degree. Most employees were contractual with less than 1 year of service in the company and work for more than 45 hours per week. Financial stress level among working young adults was "moderate" and their job performance level was "very satisfactory". The financial stress is positively correlated to the level of job performance. The analysis revealed that the financial stress of working young adults does not significantly varied in terms of socio-demographic characteristics such as age, marital status, number of children, work status, number of years in the company and total number of working hours. However, in terms of sex and educational attainment, significant differences in the level of financial stress were found. The result shows that the job performance of working young adults does not significantly vary in terms of socio-demographic characteristics such as marital status, number of children, number of years in the company and total number of working hours while in terms of age, sex, educational attainment and work status a significant difference in the level of job performance was found. Results of the correlation analysis revealed a significant relationship between the two variables. The relationship is positive but not very strong. It suggests that as the level of financial stress increases, job performance improves.
