Abstract: ATAJAR, JACINE MAE P., CARUMAY, LYANNE JOYCE C., and CATAPANG, MONICA F. Academic Performance of Job Experience Program Grantees in Cavite State University — Main Campus S.Y. 2015-2016. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Business Economics. Cavite State University. Indang , Cavite. December 2016. Adviser: Ms. Thea Maries Perez. The study was conducted in Cavite State University from August to November 2016 to determine the academic performance of Job Experience Program grantees. The study aimed to: determine the socio-economic characteristics of the participants; determine their academic performance in terms of GPA while under and after the Job Experience Program; determine the level of performance that describe their time management; determine the level of influence of the identified reasons of the participants to work, to leave the program, and to choose the Job Experience Program of all the scholarship programs available in the University; and determine the problems encountered by the participants while under the program. In addition, this study aimed to: determine the relationship between socio-economic characteristics and academic performance of the participants; determine the relationship between time management and academic performance; and determine the significant difference between the academic performance of the participants while under and after the Job Experience Program. The study employed descriptive research and correlation research design to answer the objectives presented. The validity and reliability of research instruments was established and data were collected from 180 participants from Cavite State University using the purposive sampling method. Findings revealed that the participants had Very Satisfactory academic performance in S.Y. 2015-2016 and have good time management habits. Career advancement was the reason that influenced the participants to work, more time availability influenced them to choose the Job Experience Program while having failing/incomplete grades influenced them to leave the program. The study also revealed that there was no significant relationship between the socio-economic characteristics except household income and student's status and the academic performance of the participants; between the time management habits and the academic performance of the participants; and between the academic performances of the participants in terms of their GPA. The problems encountered by the participants while working under the Job Experience Program were time management, conflict in office and critical hours, working environment, tardiness, stress and failure to finish the time required. On the basis of the results, the researchers recommend that higher year students should improve their time management habits to better balance their time between studying and working. Students must also identify the nature of work before deciding whether they want to work under JEP or not. For future researchers and studies, other reasons for working, choosing and leaving the program that are not included in this study may be evaluated. Lastly, future studies should be done through the use of other statistical tools
