Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness, Don Severino Agri cultural College, October 1990. Adviser: Mr. Angelo P. Olo. A three-month field study was conducted at Barangay Scholars Marketing Cooperative in Barangay Tapia, General Trias, Cavite. It aimed to: 1) apply the gained know ledge, skills and tools in Agribusiness management to actual situations and experiences, 2) describe the ma-nagement practices as well as know the system of opera-tion of the cooperative, 4) identify critical problems and formulate workable solutions that will lead to the realization of the objectives of the cooperative. During the conduct of field study, the author was exposed to the various activities of the cooperative. These included production and processing of palay, organizing of farmer members in each chapter, issuing cash and credit sales and recording the stocks in the warehouse. After the three-month field study, the author learned that the management status of the cooperative was inefficient. Losses on the part of Rice and Corn Service Center were due to very high operating and administrative expenses. Farmer members were not able to pay their loans in full due to very low production of palay. Low production was the result of the damage of irrigation facilities caused by the successive ty-phoons and infestation of pests and diseases to the palay. The author hereby recommend that the management should encourage the members to adapt }CIO. Farmer-members insure their crops under the Philippine Crop Insurance Program to protect their capital cost in case the typhoon and drought come. BSMCI should avail loans from the Landbank of the Philippines to sustain the farmer-members production cost. Once the farmers have high capital for their production, possibly they can produce more palay and high quality rice. Also, the management tries to find out where to market its big volume of rice. A re-education of all members must be in order. They should be trained to realize the importance of their role in insuring the success of cooperative.
