Abstract: AISPILLICO, ERWIN T., BARING, VINCE JAYVEE P., and TOLEDO, HYACINTH Counterfactual Thoughts, Risk Perception, and Earthquake Preparedness of awrots from Barangay Mabuhay, Carmona, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2018. Adviser: Ass Ruth M. Andalajao, RPm. This study was primarily conducted with the intention of determining the overall preparation of the residents in Barangay Mabuhay, Carmona, Cavite regarding potential earthquakes. This is with regards to the frequent reports that the locality is traversed by the West Valley fault line. The said fault line is the one expected to move that would cause the alarming earthquake called ``The Big One". Specifically, the study determined the type of counterfactual thoughts, downward or upward; levels of risk perception; and levels of earthquake preparedness of families from Barangay Mabuhay, Carmona, Cavite. Additionally, this study aimed to identify whether there is any significant relationship among the three variables. The study utilized a descriptive correlation research design. The participants were 33 household guardians and parents which had been living at the area for not less than two years and are regularly staying at their homes. Furthermore, the sampling technique used in choosing the participants was cluster sampling. For the data gathering, the researchers used of a self-made inventory entitled BAT's Disaster Risk Management inventory which composed of 71 items. The study found out that majority of the families displayed upward counterfactual thoughts. Families of Barangay Mabuhay also presented high levels of risk perception and earthquake preparedness. This result can be attributed to the proactive actions taken by NOS barangay officials in preparation for the possible occurrence of earthquakes due to the imam of the barangay. Most importantly, the study identified that the relationship arc counterfactual thoughts, risk perception, and earthquake preparedness were highly lipiacant Generally, the results entail that counterfactual thoughts, risk perception, and miquake preparedness influenced each other respectively.
