Abstract: GLORY I. ADEOYE, JABEZ N AQUINO, ARMIN ROSE D. SINGCOL. Breast self-examination practices and awareness among students ages 18 to 25 in Cavite state university Indang campus. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Nursing Cavite State University-Main Campus , Indang Cavite Philippines. December 2018. Adviser: Dr. Evelyn M. Del Mundo RN,MAN. This study was conducted to assess the level of awareness and compliance to breast self-examination of the College of Nursing students ages 18 to 25 in Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Specifically this study aimed to: 1) describe the socio-demographic profile of the participants in terms of: age; sex; civil status; monthly family income; health history; and family health history; 2). assess the level of awareness of the participants 3). determine the level of compliance of the participants in performing BSE; 4) determine the significant difference on the level of awareness of the participants before and after teaching BSE; .5).determine the significant difference on the level of compliance of the participants before and after teaching BSE. The design that was utilized for this study is quasi-experimental. In this study it is in a pre-test-post-test design, there is only one group and all of them are in the experimental condition. These quasi-experimental approach exposed participants (250 nursing students, currently enrolled at Cavite State University-Main Campus by the time the study was conducted) to the treatment or stimulus (BSE). The researchers utilized the breast cancer measurement tool (adapted from Breast Cancer Awareness Measure (Breast CAM) Toolkit of Cancer Research Unit Organization, 2011), consists of three parts. Majority (86.8%) of the participants belonged to 18-19 years old, female, single, had a monthly family income of less than 5,000. The level of awareness of the participants who perform breast self-examination practices had increased from 20.8% before the pre-test to 82.8% after the post-test. The participants' level of compliance to perform breast self-examination was moderately complied before the BSE implementation and highly complied after the implementation. Based on the findings and conclusions of the study, the researchers strongly recommend the following: 1. The University Clinic together with the College of nursing may ask the cooperation of the student body to inform all students to participate in BSE Awareness Week so that everybody will become more aware BSE. 2. All students must be taught on how to perform BSE during orientation of freshmen and transferees. 3. A wellness program shall be implemented every semester in different colleges for the students, especially female students to realize the significance of BSE.
