Summary: "Environmental risk can be defined as the actual or potential threat of adverse effects on living organisms and the environmental by effluents, emission, wastes, resource depletion, etc., etc., arising out of an organization’s activities. The text environment risk assessment & analysis covers such topics as quantitative measures and modeling, risk assessments, environmental economics, and decision analysis tools. First chapter focuses on soil contamination, risk assessment and remediation. Geochemical specification and risk assessment of heavy metals in soils and sediments have been discussed in second chapter. The aim of third chapter is to reveal the relationships among risk assessment result, risk perception model and risk acceptance model of the residents near nuclear power plants in Japan. In fourth chapter, we discuss on potential hazards and risk assessment related to Katla volcano in Iceland. Cumulative risk assessment framework for waterborne contaminants has been introduced in fifth chapter. Sixth chapter discusses on quantitative risk assessment in Iran’s natural gas distribution network. Seventh chapter focuses on the application of the three of the methods such as HAZOP, DMRA and LOPA on a natural gas pre-liquefaction unit. The aim of the eight chapter is to assess the level of soil contamination with heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury, manganese, nickel, total chromium, zinc, cobalt, copper and arsenic in 34 countries in Romania. Risks of heavy metals contamination of soil-plant system by land application of sewage sludge have been discussed in ninth chapter. The investigation and assessment on groundwater organic pollution have been described in tenth chapter, the aim of eleventh chapter is to investigate the effects of chlorothalonil exposure on the gamete physiology. For aquatic risk assessment, the use of exposure relationship of pesticides has been investigated in twelfth chapter. A land-use-perspective for bird strike risk assessment has been focused in the thirteenth chapter. Fourteenth chapter discusses on climate-based risk assessment fro maize producing areas in rainfed agriculture in Mexico. In fifteenth chapter, a new modeling approach incorporating both a new environmental multimedia system and the Monte Carlo method has been developed as a tool for the risk assessment of contaminants. The aim of the last chapter is to determine the distribution, concentration and profiles of some ubiquitous environmental pollutants such as heavy metals, polycylic aromatic hydrocarbons, and organochlorine pesticides in soil."--Back cover
