Generally the project aimed to provide the student an actual experience of managing a backyard hog fattening. The student entrepreneur wanted to gain knowledge and skills on hog fattening, earn profit from hog raising and produce high-quality meat. There were four hogs with an average initial weight of 18 kg fattened for 101 days. The hogs were purchased at Barangay Kayquit III, Indang, Cavite which cost p 2700 for the first 10 kilograms and P 170 for every excess kilogram. The hog production started with pre-starter feeds pellet which was given on the first nine days, followed by starter feeds pellet that was given for 33 days and lastly, grower feeds pellet that was given for 59 clays. The four hogs were fed three times daily at 7 a.m., 12 p.m., and 5 p.m. The four hogs consumed a total amount of 725 kg of feeds or an average of 206.25 kg. They attained a total live body weight of 374 kg or an average of 93 kg. This means the hogs had an average daily gain in weight of 742.57 g and had a feed conversion efficiency of 2.75. The fattened hogs were marketed at P 125 per kilogram at live weight basis. At the end of raising period, the cost in this project is P 41, 374. The total sales amounted to P 46, 920. The project realized a net income of P 5,546 for four hogs sold on a live weight basis. The return on investment (ROI) was 13.4 percent.
