Abstract: LEDESMA, JUSTIN D. and SANTOS, JOSE NICHOLAS DE FERRARI S. Proposed Design of Slope Protection along Indang — Alfonso Road, Cavite Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Engr. Roslyn Pena. The study was conducted from October 2018 to June 2019 at the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite to propose a design of slope protection along Indang Alfonso Road, Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to: investigate the existing condition of soil on the roadside; analyze the method in designing the slope protection; provide the topographic map of the location; provide an estimated detailed cost of the design project; and provide specifications of the design project. The residents of Barangay Tambo Ilaya, Indang, Cavite were first interviewed regarding the current condition of the Banaba Bridge during rainy season. Interviews with persons or staffs with knowledge in the study were also conducted to obtain added information for the study. The proposed design of slope protection along Indang Alfonso road, Cavite was made up of stone masonry and has a total length of 106.00 meters. The stability of slope protection was considered in the study. The design height was 5.50 meters. The overall total estimated cost for proposed designs of slope protection was P3,870,766.50. A detailed analysis of the design guidelines, procedure and specifications was applied in the study. The standard used were carefully studied and detailed as to arrive to an efficient and economic design. Detailed structural drawings, structural design, detailed surveying, design specification and detailed estimates were included in the study. The main purpose of the study was for the proponents to enhance their skills and knowledge about how slope protection works. The study allowed the researchers to hone their techniques about analyzing slope protections. This includes the several trial and errors in adequate proportioning of slope protection. Proper proportioning must contemplate with stability in sliding, ovenurning, and bearing capacity to appropriately design a slope protection. The durability and efficiency of the slope protection will make a positive material for structural application if the design is utilized, it would provide safety and other benefits to the residents who are living near the roadside. Also, drainage with free draining backfill was considered to prevent accumulation of water behind the wall and failure in the design of the slope protection.
