Abstract: LIVETA, DENNIS S. and SOCORRO, GERARDO JR. M. "Design and Development of a PC-Based Monitoring System for Vehicles Entering the University". Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BS COE). Cavite State University, April 2001. Adviser: Ms. Florence B. Marero The study was conducted to design a system that monitors the vehicle that enters or leaves the University. It also aimed to test the ability or performance of the system using an ordinary phone card. To be able to test the system, the card must be inserted in the card reader; if the card inserted is valid, the lever will raise up automatically, otherwise, the lever would remain closed. The validity of the card was based on the personal files that were saved in the computer with the corresponding Personal Identification Number (PIN). It was observed that the monitoring system of vehicles using the design project was much more reliable compared with the usual monitoring system. The results revealed that by using ordinary phone card's Personal Identification Number, the system was able to determine the exact transaction with the exact period of date and time, thus, making the system more ideal with respect to the existing access codes.
