Abstract: ALCANTARA, MICHAEL CAESAR AMBAGAN AND RELLEGUE, RONALD SIERRA, Cavite state University, Indang. Cavite, April 2001."DESIGN OF A MULTIPURPOSE TWO-STOREY UNIVERSITY CANTEEN"Adviser: Engr. Ronaldo A. Serimogan and Engr. Rico C. Asuncion Improvement of physical facilities in every institution is a never-ending process in order to cope with the needs. In colleges and universities, said improvement is not only confined to classrooms, laboratory rooms, libraries, to mention a few. It also includes college or university canteen. To contribute to the process, a structural design of a multipurpose two-storey canteen was made. The design of the existing canteen in the university is not adequate to accommodate a greater number of students. Based on the record, the trend is yearly increasing in population, thus, spacious canteen is needed. The study aims to make the authorities concerned to realize the need for the expansion of the canteen. It also aims to design a multi-purpose two-storey canteen, which could help the accommodation problem of the existing one and if implemented, will also serve as one of the income-generating projects of the university. The study was conducted in the authors' residence from September 2000 to February 2001. This is only limited to the structural design and architectural drawings, as well as the estimated cost of the concrete works, masonry works, and steel reinforcements. A scaled model, which shows the external features, only was provided. In addition, Technical Specification, which conform to the National Structural Code of the Philippines were made. as well as the cost estimate of the project. Based on the design considerations and the parameters acquired, the following were obtained: structural design, architectural drawings such as perspective. elevations, floor plans, specifications, cost estimate and scaled model.
