Tool in Experiments Having Correlated Parameters." Physical Sciences Department, College of Arts and Sciences, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2002. Adviser: Ms. Anna Marie A. Ardina
This study was conducted to present the use of MANOVA as an alternative tool in analyzing the data of Perido (1997) in his study "Forced Flowering Gladiola Using Different Levels of IAA." Specifically, it aimed to: (1) determine the degree of relationship between the parameters; (2) determine the significant differences between treatment means; and (3) determine the best treatment that is suitable for forced flowering of gladiola.
Perido used five treatments namely: — no application of IAA, T2 — application of 50 ppm, T3 — application of 100 ppm, T4 — application of 150 ppm and T5 — application Of 200 ppm. Four parameters were measured: number of flowers, number of spikes, length of spikes and number of days from application to flower formation.
Assumptions of MANOVA were tested to these parameters. It was found out that the parameters were significantly correlated with each other. From MANOVA result, the treatment means were found to have significant differences, which implied that application of IAA affected the growth and development of the gladiola plant. In Perido's result using ANOVA, it was also found that the treatment means were significantly different. Comparison of MANOVA and ANOVA showed the same results, which implied that MANOVA can be used as an alternative tool when analyzing large number
of correlated parameters.
