Abstract: ALEGRE, JONATHAN PALINO and ESGUERRA, GERALD RODRIGUEZ, "Application of Logistic Regression in the Evaluation of Qualifying Examination of Engineering Students", Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 2004. Adviser: Ms. Marissa C. Isidro This study was conducted to (l ) present the profile of engineering students who took the qualifying examination in the S Y. 2002-2003; (2) formulate a logistic regression model for the performance of engineering students in the qualifying examination; and (3) identify the factors affecting the performance of students in the qualifying examination The independent variables considered were age, gender, questions on study habits, grades in Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Engineering Drawing, Analytic Geometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Chemistry and Physics and fourth year high school average of the respondents. The derived logistic regression model was: (-3.0177+3.0945bx5+2.3507ex4+1.8350ex7) epx P (passed = l ) — (-3.0177+3.0945bx5+2.3507e.x4+1.8350ex7) exp The logistic regression model formulated showed that the students' grades in Algebra and some of their study habits affect their performance in the qualifying examination
