Abstract: JUMAGBAS, LAREN MAE V.; ROMANES, NESSA MAE A Case study on the Stress Experienced by the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Freshmen Students during School Year 2004 — 2005. Undergraduate Special Problem. Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Cavite State University Indang, Cavite. March 2006. Advisers: Lenila A. de Vera, RN, and Josefina R. Rint, PhD. The study entitled "A Case Study on the Stress Experienced by the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Freshmen Students during School Year 2004 — 2005" was conducted to reveal the sources of stress among students. Specifically, the study aimed: a) to identify the aspect that greatly affected student's emotions; b) to identity& the stressors that affected each course under the College of Arts and Sciences; c) to identify the course of the students who were the most stressed out and d) to identify the possible causes of stress. This study utilized descriptive design to describe the stress among students. A total of 283 students under the CAS served as the respondents in answering the closed-ended questionnaire of Likert Scale type and the tallied scores were ranked according to their effect on students' lives, specifically stress. The responses revealed that the most common to the least common major source of stress among students and the total rating of each were as follows: Studies (3.87), Financial problem (3.75), Relationship (3.22), Friends (3.2) and Family (2.82). Poor grades and failure to pursue the desired course affected their studies. Change in their parents' financial status was the major financial problem while unexpressed feeling, peer pressure and increased argument with close friends and argument with parents were their primary problems based on financial problem, relationship, friends, and family-based stressors, respectively.
