Abstract: BAGO ,JANNETTE MOJICA, Sweny Orchids Farm Victoria, Laguna : A Case Study Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture ( BSA) major in Agricultural Economics. Adviser: Mrs. Nelia E. Feranil . A case study was conducted at Sweny Orchids Farm in Purak Masapang Victoria, Laguna to describe the 1993 status of the farm and its prospect for development and to determine its production operation, personnel and management procedure, marketing systems and strategies and its financial positions. Relevant data. were gathered through observation and personal interview with the manager and I a borer of the farm. Other necessary data were gathered from the farm' s record . The farm started its operation as commercial firm in 1986 with an investment of P 8O,000.00. there are three laborers’ performing all the works in the farm the farm produced varieties of Vanda such as semi-terete and veltius. Most of their seedlings are imported from Bangkok Thailand. The farm has two types of buyers the walk-in buyers and the middlemen got 80 % of the produce and 20 percent for the walk-in buyers. The total sales of the orchid p I ants and flowers for the year 1993 amounted to P 282,050.00. The total cash costs amounted to P 122, 300.00 while the total non—cash costs amounted to PI 1,500.00. The total costs amounted to P133, 800.00 .The farm had a total profit of P 148,750.00. The farm encountered many problems in a l most al I aspects of the business, including production operation, marketing, and organization of the farm. The farm does not have specific record .I recommended that the farm should hire employee that will take charge of record keeping.
