Summary: PERDON, LENY TORRES, "Community Bank (Rural Bank of Alfonso Incorporated) Alfonso, Cavite": Undergraduate Field Study, in Business Management, major in Economics, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 1998. Adviser Mrs. Cecilia T. Cayao. This field study was conducted to provide the student with necessary information about the bank, to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom to actual work, to expose the student to different management practices employed by the bank and to identify common problems encountered in its operation. The field study was conducted at Community Bank or Rural Bank of Alfonso, Incorporated (RBAI), located at Mabini St. Alfonso, Cavite. Within three-month period of the field study, an opportunity was given to face the different activities in the bank. The functions of New Accounts Clerk were done under the supervision of Mr. Jayson Montenegro, the New Accounts Clerk and Mr. Noel Del Mundo, the Savings Bookkeeper. The responsibility of providing assistance to clients to facilitate the opening of new accounts and the other services that the bank offers were also done. The first two weeks of the field study was spent on orientation of different activities such as processing of new accounts, assisting clients on proper way of filing up signature cards, deposit slips, withdrawal slip and on different policies of the bank. On the following weeks, the following jobs were performed: advising clients on rules governing new accounts; giving referrals to client proper authorities; preparing order slips for time deposits and on the basis of approved slips; preparing certificate of time deposit; securing requirements in the opening of new accounts and filing all documents emanating from the assigned section. The last month of field study was utilized in helping the savings bookkeeper in computation of interest for time deposits; ensuring the proper filing and safekeeping of time deposits certificate, savings deposit and withdrawal slips; and balancing transaction for the day by means of preparing balance sheets and T-Accounts. Pertinent information about the bank's organization and management, management policies and practices, incentives given to each employee, services offered marketing and financial operations of the bank and familiarization of different activities concerning training itself were gathered during the observation period. Difficulties in implementing bank policies to employees were encountered by the management. These include absenteeism or absence without leave, being late without notices, non-wearing of complete uniforms during working hours, and using of telephone for personal calls of some employees. The management encountered these problems because the company did not expose penalties to employees who violated the bank's rules and regulations.
