Bachelor of Science in Business Management, major in Economics, Cavite State University, lndang, Cavite, April 2001. Adviser: Mr. Adonis N. Metiez. A field study was conducted at Leader. Cable Philippines Corporation located at Barrio San Agustin. Dasmarinas. Cavite fi-om October 18, 2000 to January 23, 2001. The general objective of the study was to gain knowledge and skills through actual participation/involvement in the company's operations which will be useful in seeking future employment. Specifically, the study aimed to: describe the activities/operations conducted in the Finance Department, describe the products offered in the market, and determine the problems encountered by the firm. The study concentrated on the activities performed in the Finance Department of Leader Cable Philippines Corporation. Data and information were gathered through company's profiles, interview with its staff and observation in the company. Other data were gathered in Tagaytay City Hall Library and Cavite State University Library. Leader Cable Philippines Corporation is a multinational company with one strong vision-"To transcend new boundaries towards the information Super Highway". Leader Cable Philippines Corporation is engage in manufacturing and marketing of aluminum rods and aluminum conductors, copper power cables, building wires and communication cables including the marketing of optic fiber cables, high voltage power cables and data communication cables. Major problems encountered by the firm are the high cost of production and the devaluation of peso because of the political crisis that affected the country. Past due accounts of customers and continuously increasing interest rate of banks were considered as some of the problems encountered in the Finance Department. Working in a multinational company helps the student to gain valuable experience, especially in encoding, photocopying, fax transmission, recording an arranging company files. These were routinary activities which help her develop self- confidence and professionalism.
