Online resources: Abstract: A mono-cropping of mongo and corn was conducted at Barangay Esperanza, Alfonso, Cavite from August 1984 to February 1985 to determine the feasibility of growing mongo and corn as an income generating project of the Student Outreach Agent (SOA) and the farmer cooperator. The primary aim of this study was to enable the student to demonstrate the ability to put into actual practice the theoretical knowledge in the class- room and to learn how to go along and work with the farmers while growing both crops. A 2,000 square meter field was plowed and harrowed twice. Planting of mongo seeds was done after broad- casting the complete fertilizer (14-14-14) 50 kilograms at the rate of 200 kilograms per hectare. Harvesting of pods was done on October 10-20, 1984 approximately seventy four days (74) after planting. A total of 35 gantas of mongo was harvested and marketed at P40.00 per ganta. A net income of four hundred ten (7410.00) was obtained from mongo. On the other hand, the field which was utilized for corn production with an area of 2,500 square meters was also prepared. The activities started by plowing and harrowing the field twice followed by furrowing. Planting was done on October 3, 1984 and harvesting was done on January 17, 1985. The project gave a net income of 71,430.00 after deducting the total expenses from the total return. :
