Online resources: Abstract: The study "Response of Onion to Green Manures of Selected Leguminous Plants' was conducted at the ex-perimental field of the Don Severino Agricultural Col-lege from December 1979 to February 1980. The study aimed to determine the response of Onion to Ipil-ipil, madre de cacao and colopogonium as green manure as well as to their combination with complete fertilizer (14-14-14). A 200 meter square was used for the purpose. Green leaves of the plants mentioned were incor-porated to the soil two weeks before transplanting. Yellow Granix onion variety was used. Randomized complete block design was used in the experiment, with eight treatments and four replica-tions. Results showed that ipil-ipil had a pronounced effect on the growth and yield of onion as exhibited by the highest computed yield per hectare of 21.60 tons. It was also evident that all leguminous leaves used in the study did not differ very much with the com-plete fertilizer on their effect on the yield of onion. Thus, based from the result of the experiment the use of leguminous leaves as green manures for onion is recommended. Due to very high cost of inorganic fertilizer today, the use of legumes as organic fertilizer for the crop is more economical.
