This study was conducted to determine the effects of different mulching materials on the growth and yield of tomato intercrops. It also aimed to know which of the three mulching materials used is the most suitable for tomato and intercrops. Thirdly, to compare the productivity and net income from tomato under monoculture and intercropping schemes. Three mulching materials were used in the experiment namely: Coffee pulp, banana leaves and rice straw. Likewise Tomato pope variety, Bush sitao (BS-3), snap beans (BSU~1), cowpea (1UPB-Var-18-6) were tested. Land preparation was done a month prior to. Planting. The area was subdivided to 3 equal blocks which served as replication. Each replication was subdivided into three parts which contained 7 plots each that represented the treatments. Mulching materials served as main treatment and intercropping pattern as sub-treatment. Split plot in randomized complete block design was used in the study.
