Abstract: HUELGAS, DARIO M. Response of Grafted Tomato to Mulched and Unmulched Conditions and to Different Rates of Fertilizer Application. Masteral Thesis. Master of Science in Horticulture. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2005. Adviser: Dr. Arnulfo C. Pascual. A study on grafted tomato was conducted at Department of Agriculture Southern Tagalog Integrated Agricultural Research Center (DA-STIARC) Compound, Barangay Marawi, Lipa City, in May to August 2004. There were five rates of fertilizer application evaluated under mulched and Unmulched conditions. The findings showed that there were high significant differences between grafted tomatoes planted under mulched and Unmulched conditions. Results also showed highly significant differences in the various rates of fertilizer application. Furthermore, the study showed a significant interaction between the main factor, the mulching condition and the sub-factor, the rates of fertilizer application. Treatment C2T3 (160 kilograms of nitrogen, 55 kilograms of phosphorus and 160 kilograms of potassium) produced the best result and was most suited and economical for grafted tomato production.
