Abstract: The project was conducted at Barangay Buna Lejos, Indang, Cavite from September 9, 1986 to January 16, 1987 to determine the growth rate of two fattening hogs and determine the cost of production in raising fattening hogs by supplementing them with kitchen refuse. The pigs were fed twice a day with commercial feeds during the entire period of the study. Kitchen refuse, table garbage, unmarketable fruits and waste products were used as feed supplements to minimize the cost of expenses. The hogs consumed a total of 621.0 kgs. of feed and attained the total body weight of 176 kgs. after the 129 day feeding period. This gave an average body weight of 88 kilograms and achieved an average feed efficiency of 2.375. At the end of the project, the hogs were marketed on a whole-sale basis. This feeding performance gave a total net return of p692.60 with an average net return of P345.30 per hog.
