This farm practice training was undertaken at Barangay Lumipa, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Cavite to apply and relay the various skills learned in the class-room and to the farmers through an income generating project in one of the barangay demonstration laboratory. A 10,000 square meter field was used in the production of the Macapuno corn variety grain corn. Majority of the labor and material inputs like seeds and fertilizers were provided by the farmer cooperator. Complete fertilizer (14-14-14) was applied before planting at the rate of 150 kilograms per hectare. This was followed by side dressing of urea fertilizer (45-0-0) 100 kilograms per hectare when the corn plants were about knee high. Careful observation was done to determine the presence of insect pests and diseases to identify early signs of abnormality; Harvesting was done 95 days after planting. Four hundred kilograms were harvested and was sold at P6.00 per kilogram. The gross income was P21400 and upon deducting the total expenses of p.11780.00 a net income of r620.00 was realized.
