Abstract: The farm practice activity was conducted at barangay 3, Indang, Cavite from November 1989 to march 1990. Three piglets averaging 19kgs each were used in this study to gain hands-on experience on the actual management of the hog fattening. For a four months feeding period, a total of 900 kilograms of commercial feed was consumed by the animals. The hogs reached a final average weight of 108 kilograms live-weight, with a feed efficiency of 3.37 kilograms. A total of P10,059.00 was used as the capital for the farm practice activity. In turn, the student realized a gross income of P11, 440.00 or a net income of P1,381.00 for three fattened pigs. Results showed that wet feeding was better than dry feeding in terms of ease of swallowing. Male animals were also observed to fatten better than female animals because of a higher feed intake and higher gain in weight.
