Abstract: The farm practice project "Intercropping Sweet Potato (Visca #5 Variety) with Okra" was conducted from August to December, 1990 in the experimental field of Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang Cavite. An area of 1,500 square meter field was plowed and harrowed two times with an interval of two weeks to allow the weeds to decay and weed seeds to germinate and to give sweet potato and okra a good head start. Sweet potato cuttings were planted in the furrows 0.75 x 0.75 meter apart and intercropped with okra between and within the rows with the same spacing. Five days after planting, sweet potato vines were observed to have developed new lateral shoots while the germination of okra took place five to ten days after planting. Sweet potato was harvested 100-124 days after planting while okra was harvested as they reached their full size but still green, tender and good for kitchen purposes. Yield of 100 kilos of sweet potato tubers which was sold at P7.00 per kilo gave a total cash return of P700.00 while okra, 65 kilos was produced. It was sold at P8.00 per kilo giving a total return of P520.00. A net income of P218.00 was realized after deducting expenses of P1,002.00 from the total gross income of P1,220.00.
