Abstract: The project "Intercropping Sweet Potato with Okra and Bush Sitao", was conducted in Bancod, Indang, Cavite from November, 1990 to March, 1991 for a period of five months. This project was conducted to familiarize the student on the cultural management operation required in intercropping sweet potato with okra and bush sitao during dry season planting and to determine the actual cost and return of the project. An area of 1,500 square meter was prepared by alternate plowing and harrowing to allow the seeds to decay and weed seeds to germinate and to give sweet potato, okra and bush sitao a good start. Sweet potato cuttings as the base crop was planted at a distance of 100 centimeters between rows and 60 centimeters between plants in a row. Bush sitao was planted in between the rows of sweet potato with a distance of 100 centimeters between rows and 30 centimeters between hills with 2 seeds per hill. On the other hand okra was planted between the hills of bush sitao with a distance similar to bush sitao. Fifty kilograms of fertilizer was applied basally in the entire area and four weeks after emergence, 25 kilograms of urea (45-0-0) was applied to the okra plants. Sweet potato was harvested 100 to 124 days after planting while okra and bush sitao were harvested 50 to 80 days after planting. Sweet potato obtained a yield of 300 kilograms and sold at P10.00 per kilo which gave a total cash return of P3,000. Bush sitao and okra obtained a total yield of 250 kilograms and 100 kilograms respectively. Bush sitao was sold at P8.00 per kilogram while okra was sold at P5.00 per kilogram. Bush sitao and okra obtained a gross sales of P2,500 in a 1,500 square meter field. The project realized a gross sale (sweet potato, okra and bush sitao) of P5,500.00. After deducting the overall expenses of P2,756.00 the project gave a net income of P2,744.00.
