Abstract: The project "Intercropping Rice and Corn" was con-ducted in Barangay Luciano, Trece Martires City from May to September 1991. The project aimed to provide the farm practice students with skills and expertise on proper care and management of small farm project in an inter -cropping pattern. Specifically, it aimed to increase farm income by intercropping rice with corn and to be able to maximize crop yield through proper farm management involving intercropping system with rice and corn as main and intercrop, respectively. An area of 1,500 square meter field was used. Planted with rice with intercropped corn spaced at four meters apart between furrows and 30 centimeters apart within the rows. All the necessary cultural management practices were employed throughout the duration of the project. Three months after planting corn was harvested and two months later, rice was harvested manually. Harvested crops were sold in the nearby market which gave a total gross income of P 3,250.00 and after deducting the expenses, a net income of P 1,324.40 was realized. The results of the project showed a 68.77% Return on Investment which indicates that the project "Inter-cropping Rice and Corn" is a profitable venture toward maximization of land productivity per unit of time Furthermore, in order to attain efficiency in intercropping scheme, it is important to develop suitable management practices that would minimize intercrop competition and maximize complementary effects of both component crops.
